No light in sight.....swag dilema

Remember my Black Friday swag bargain from AC Moore?? I got 9 fake pine swags for $7.52. My plan was to put red bows on each one and put them on each window ledge in the front of my house. I have electric candles in each window and I thought the swag would look so nice with the candles in the window. Well, then I got this great idea that I wanted lights for each swag. I went to three different stores tonight to find 50 count white/clear mini lights. Each store was out of 50 count white lights. They had red, blue, green, or multi-color. NO WHITE! I went to Joann Fabric, Target, and Walmart. Sold Out. I called my Mom and she was at Big Lots, so I had her check there for me. She called me back and said when she was looking another lady was also looking for 50 count white lights for the same idea. They found 10 boxes and the other lady took 5 boxes of the lights. I told her not to get them for me because I needed 9 boxes. I was still at Walmart and I was going to ask a sales associate. My Mom was going to ask someone at Big Lots too. I had no luck at Walmart and my Mom had no luck at Big Lots. By the time my Mom went back to the light section, the 5 boxes I told her not to get where already gone.

So, I decided to buy multi-color and see how they looked. I got home and put them on the swag and tried to make the ribbon into the shape of a bow. I had Dan go upstairs and hold it out the window while I looked at it from outside. I wanted Dan to plug the lights on the swag in and then plug the electric window candle into the lights. I am outside yelling up to Dan to plug in the candle and he is yelling down to me that he can't. I am yelling "What do you mean you can't??". Apparently the candle plug will not fit into the multi-color light strand. Dan used some technical term but I didn't want to hear it. My plan was not working out.

So, should I just put the swags up with the bow and the candle in the window and forget the lights???? I am not crazy about the multi colored lights anyway.

Thoughts???

I was just at Dollar General Store tonight and they had tons of 50 count. Have you tried that store?

I think it would look fine without the lights!!

Although...we have a big lots about 4 miles from our house...I could go tomorrow and see if they have them...if they do, I would be happy to pick them up for you. I am coming to Philly on Monday, so maybe we could meet up....let me know:)

I think they'll be fine without the lights too! Sounds pretty. We tried those electric candles in the windows and they never showed up -- but the neighbors' do -- what's with that?

Oh gosh, I hate when that happens...you can't get enough of something! I hope you were able to find the ones you wanted!

Jen,

The candle will probably be enough...but like you, I am partial to the white lights. I guess...if you can't find them, I wouldn't sweat it and you can pick some up for next year. It will look fine either way!!
