Well the diet has begun.....

I know I am not supposed to be calling it a diet. I was told this by one of the Mom's at Dancing School. I was sitting in the waiting room Monday night talking to one of my friends about my diet. This woman jumped up and started telling me not to call it a diet. It's a life change, bettering my health, etc. I know all these things but it feels like a diet to me. I LOVE food. I love to go out to eat. I love bread with butter dipped into my spaghetti sauce....yum....Well now I am torturing myself because I am drooling thinking about it. I was also writing down what I ate and keeping track of my calories. She started hitting my book..."No, no do not write it down" she said. "It's NOT a diet". I thought give me a break lady, this is hard enough without you sticking your nose in my business.

We started a "Biggest Loser" competition in my neighborhood. I am determined to lose weight and WIN! I am the heaviest that I have ever been. I can't fit into my clothes. I feel very uncomfortable. Both of my parents are overweight and are type 2 diabetics. I do not want to become diabetic. I am a Nurse and work in a Cardiology office doing stress tests everyday. I know better. I need to lose weight for my health. But, I love food. I think I mentioned that......

I am going to do it!! I want to lose at least 30 lbs. If anyone has any tips or recipes they want to share, that would be great.

I am following a 1500 calorie a day diet. I am drinking alot of water. I gave up diet coke and coffee. I had a major headache for 2 days. I am getting some caffeine from crystal light ice tea. I know I can have coffee but I like mine with a lot of french vanilla creamer. So I will treat myself on the weekend with a coffee and creamer.

I wanted Dan to take a picture of me in a sports bra and shorts but I will spare you that sight.

It sounds like you are off to a great start Jen!! I KNOW you can do anything you put your mind to...you WILL win that contest!

I think the key is everything in moderation, watch portions, and keep drinking that water and get in a little exercise if you can!!

I have endulged a little too much this holiday season and the clothes are feeling a bit tight, so I cut out the sugar....and I have also had a headache...I guess it is withdrawal!!

Good luck....We are here to cheer you on!!

You go girl!!!!! I know you can do it!
Caffeine withdrawl headaches are the worst! I too love my coffee with lots of sweet creamer. My weakness is snacking at night when I watch tv. Replace your old habits with new ones. I like the idea of the competition, that would motivate me!

You can win it! Keep us updated and we will cheer you on!

Go sister! I'm right there with you, and it IS a diet. I'm not giving up my caffeine free diet coke, but I have cut back.
Love Biggest Loser, I cried last night for the heaviest young man. Looking forward to a good season, and a lot of my own (and your) weight loss ;)

Sounds like you are on a great plan -- what's with that lady anyway! Think it's a great idea to write down what you eat -- I'm afraid to do that and actually realize how much chocolate I eat in a single day! Good luck with the diet and exercise plan. I've started back at the Y at noon and feel sore this week, but I know next week will be better.

Sorry, I can offer no advice.

Seriously though, I do believe that if you put your mind to it, you can do anything. Just think, do you think we would have ever traveled to China to adopt??? It was tough but we did it!!!

Congratulations! The first step is making a commitment! I need to loose a couple of pounds too , ok maybe 20 or 30 would be nice ... hee hee. I gained a lot of weight when I went back to work in April - it was very stressful for me to leave my baby every day. Still is.
We are going to Disney in March and I need to be a size smaller to fit into my summer clothes!!!

p.p. I LOVE Jillian Michaels' workout DVD! It's sooo hard but I get results fast! It's called 30 day shred. Good luck to you!!

Jen -- I am soooo in the same boat, however, I already have Type 1 diabetes, which isn't much fun! I also love to eat so I struggle with weight issues every day! I have exercised every day this week and I am now trying to give up pop, which is going to make me crazy!

I will be cheering you on all of the way. We can shed a few pounds together!

Jen- it is so hard to DIET! I know life change. I love the biggest loser and am constantly inspired.

You can do it! Hang on. That bread is a killer.

I am not in a position to give advise in this area- but have a personal trainer who kicks my butt weekly and that helps!

Girl...Good for you. I am proud. And inspired. I had good intentions with the new year.. but didn't happen. So I am trying to convince myself to hold off till February 1st and call it the new- new year. Doesn't sound as good when I type it out. :)

Keep with it girl! You can do it! And good for you for taking the initiative! You inspired me to make tomorrow day 1. Is it wrong that I am trying to figure out what goodies I can consume in the last 2 hours and 10minutes of my day. just checking?

Happy Healthy Living!

You can do it. I have friends that have had great success with The Daily Plate and The Spark People. They're websites you might want to check out. You're going to WIN!!!

I'm also on an eat less, move more lifestyle change.

OH, I won't even go near the scale! It scares me looking at it as if it is beckoning me to get on and say "see I told you to stay away from all the goodies". Yep, my fault, but hey, it's good to know where all here to drop a few too.

I say refuse to buy anything new and reward yourself every 5 pounds with a mani/pedi or something other than food. I may have to try that too:)) I mean I will try that!

Hugs,

Ivy

Just thinking of you! I poured vanilla creamer in my coffee and realized it wasn't the low fat kind! Oh the guilt after all the cake this weekend:))
